June In The Garden – The Second Half Of The Month

The second half of June went by so fast. It’s already July 2nd, and I feel like summer is half over!

How the 15th rolled in.

Candy Sweet Onions are starting to get big.

Shallots, I let go to flower.

Start of purple beans.

Marshmallow is starting to bloom.  By the end of the month, it was over 10 feet tall.

Broccoli.

First blooms of cucumbers.

Tomatoes appearing.

Carrots were getting ready for harvesting.

Beets are being harvested.

I bought 2 Mexican Sunflower starts on a lark this spring, the first bloom came on the 3rd week.

Testing the garlic to see if it’s ready. I ended up holding off until the 1st week of July for the main harvest.

3rd week of June.

California softneck garlic. It was a late winter planting, but it has done well. It is a smaller garlic in general.

Mammoth Sunflowers 3rd week.

This fall squash was getting going.

A week later.

Harvested the first onions.

Flower dense.

First summer squashes.

Cabbage is getting ready.

Purple Basil.

Beans are growing on the fence.

And the first lil’ snacker bell peppers.

The month ended hot. The garden is at its dense side, where every bed is full of thick, rampant growth.
