Herbal Hair Rinse For Your Tresses

I love using herbal concoctions for my hair, it really makes you feel so much better – and you smell amazing, naturally. And the rinse will help make your hair softer and cleaner, clarifying it of leftover residue from shampoo and conditioner.

I have posted recipes before:

Herbal Hair Rinses For Every Hair Type

Herbal hair rinses are an easy way to explore herbalism without any prior knowledge of herbs. Being used topically, they are usually safe for most people. It is a strong herbal tea, brewed and then cooled.

As always, be careful when using herbal rinses if you have known skin or internal allergies to plants; keep your eyes closed, and don’t ingest them. As well, be wary if your hair is treated (particularly if you have bleached hair, with pale colors, some herbs can affect color).

I saw this recipe online, and it’s a lovely concoction, after trying it out.

In temperate areas, stinging nettle will be coming up in the coming month, and you can pluck the early shoots (wear gloves) and use them fresh. It can also be purchased dry in well-stocked dry herb/spice sections.

For calendula, you want the flowers, which, like nettles, are sold in bulk sections (they are also used in herbal tea and for dyeing fabric/wool thread). In summer, fresh can be used.

You don’t need to “catch liquid in a bowl”. Just pour it slowly over your hair in the shower, gently squeeze out the excess, and wrap your head in a towel.
